Contractors due to submit offers by end of January
Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) is preparing to receive bids from contractors on 31 January for the contract to expand the existing passenger terminal at Al-Maktoum International airport in Dubais Jebel Ali area.
The tender was first issued in December 2014 and the closing date was extended several times during 2015.
The contract involves limited amounts of building work and is mostly mechanical, electrical and plumbing work together with the supply of specialist airport systems such as baggage handling systems.
A joint venture of Arabtec Construction and Germanys Max Boegl, built the existing passenger terminal at the Al-Maktoum International airport. The the fit-out was completed by South Koreas Kumho.
Located in Dubai South, which was formerly known as Dubai World Central, the Al-Maktoum International airport began operating passenger flights in October 2013, following the start of cargo services in June 2010 and general aviation operations in April 2011.The expansion of the existing terminal is not part of the scope of the planned $32bn expansion of Al-Maktoum International.
