Turkish contractor has submitted lowest price offer for the construction work

Dubai's Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has received fresh bids from contractors for construction work on the upgrade of the Al-Ain highway.

The lowest bidder for the contract is Turkey’s Mapa Gunal with a price of AED712m ($194m), which is about 1.5 per cent lower than the offer of AED723m submitted by the local DBB Contracting.

The other bidder is the local Wade Adams with a price of AED794m.

Contractors have submitted bids for the section of works on the Al-Ain Road, which is known as 1B, before. Abu Dhabi’s Ghantoot Group submitted the lowest bid with a price of AED768m in November last year.

Wade Adams is working on phase 1A of the Al-Ain Road upgrade.

The consultant is US-based CDM Smith.

The RTA has also invited companies to bid by the end of January for a contract to build the next section of the Shindagha corridor scheme.

The contract, known as 2D, involves building an elevated flyover with precast concrete segments in the Deira Corniche area close to the Hyatt Regency hotel.

The new bridges are part of the larger Shindagha corridor scheme that will overhaul the road network in Deira and Bur Dubai.
