Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has received bids from contractors for the contract to build a new road junction connecting Emirates Road and the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road that will provide access to the Expo 2020 site.
The local Wade Adams Contracting submitted the lowest bid with a price of AED338m ($92m), which is less than 1 per cent lower than the second lowest offer of AED341m submitted by the local Dutco Balfour Beatty.
The other bidders are the local Al-Naboodah Contracting at AED350m, Turkey’s Gunal Mapa at AED421m, and Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation at AED477m.
The RTA awarded five contracts for the construction of interchanges serving the Expo 2020 site in Dubai earlier this year.
Two contracts estimated to be worth about AED1.028bn combined were awarded to India’s Larsen & Toubro. China State was awarded an estimated AED605m contract, Al-Naboodah an estimated AED600m package, and Wade Adams an estimated AED630m contract.
The Expo site, which is opposite Dubai Investments Park on the Jebel Ali to Lehbab Road, will also be served by the Route 2020 metro line.
