

Contract covers upgrade of systems supporting existing concourse
Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) has invited companies to bid for an estimated AED1.4bn ($381m) contract to upgrade Concourse C at Dubai International airport.
The contract involves the overhaul of the systems serving the concourse, such as the baggage handling areas..Concourse C serves international airlines.
Dubai International airport is the largest airport in the region in terms of passenger numbers, handling 78.01 million passengers in 2015.This represented a 10.7 per cent increase in passengers in 2015 compared with the previous year. The airport is also the worlds top hub for international passengers.
Other airport construction deals are also being tendered. DAEP received bids on 31 January for the contract to expand the existing passenger terminal at Al-Maktoum International airport in Dubais Jebel Ali area.
It is understood a local and international contractors submitted offers.
The contract involves limited amounts of building work and is mostly mechanical, electrical and plumbing work together with the supply of specialist airport systems such as baggage handling systems.
