
Fast track contract is due for completion by end of 2019
Selected contractors have been invited to bid by 6 November for an estimated AED4-5bn ($1.1bn-1.4bn) contract to build infrastructure at the Dubai Creek Harbour development.
The contract, which has a target completion date of December 2019, includes roads, bridges, drainage, utilities and marine works for the Dubai Creek Harbour site, which is located on the banks of Dubai Creek in the Ras al-Khor area.
The contract also includes managing the design and other facets of the project such as waste management, for which contractors are likely to hire external consultants and subcontractors.
The consultant for the infrastructure is US-based Parsons. The programme manager for the development is UK-based Faithful + Gould.
Contractors are also preparing to submit bids by 6 November for contract to build the worlds tallest man-made structure at Dubai Creek Harbour.
The firms that are understood to be preparing bids for the estimated $1bn The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour are:
- Arabian Construction Company (ACC; Lebanon)
- Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC; Lebanon)
- Dutco Balfour Beatty (local/UK)
- Samsung C+T (South Korea)
- Six Construct (local)
- Tishman (US)
It is understood that several of these firms are forming joint ventures.
The tender process is being fast-tracked and Emaar is planning to award the construction contract in December.
Frances Soletanche Bachy is working on the substructure.
The tower is designed by Spanish/Swiss architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava Valls. Calatrava is working with the local office of Aurecon as the consultant, supported by the UKs RMJM. The project manager for the tower is US-based Parsons.
On 10 October, Dubai officially confirmed that it will be the worlds tallest tower when it is completed in 2020.
A large retail district and residential towers are also planned for Dubai Creek Harbour, which is being developed by a joint venture Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding.
