Environmental conditions is a bigger challenge for Qatar World Cup fans than players

Environmental dust may be a bigger challenge for those delivering stadiums and fan zones for football’s Fifa 2022 World Cup in Qatar than managing heat and humidity during matches, the MEED Sustainable Cooling Infrastructure conference was told on 7 October.

Hill International senior MEP manager Mohamed Elweshahy said he was confident Qatar could deliver stadiums where world-class footballers can play safely. A bigger challenge is dealing with fan zones and particularly environmental dust.

Elweshahy said the construction industry in Qatar continues to be confident that the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar as planned.
