- Hyder Consulting will be joining a team led by the UKs Foster+Partners
A subsidiary of Dutch firm Arcadis has been appointed to work on the Jeddah transport masterplan, according to a statement made by the company.
Hyder Consulting will be joining a team lead by the UKs Foster+Partners for the architectural city-wide transportation plan.
The agreement was signed with Forster+Partners and the governor of Mecca in March 2015.
The contract involves the establishment of a city network plan that integrates different modes of transportation including, metro, ferry and bus.
Foster+Partners want to ensure that at least half of Jeddahs residents are no more than 10 minutes walk from a transport link according to a statement released by the firm.
Foster+Partners has also been awarded an $80m contract for the Jeddah metro system. Under this contract, the firm will be responsible for the design of all metro stations, buildings, trains and buses for the $12bn project.
In May 2014, Metro Jeddah Company awarded US-based Aecom a $28m contract to provide pre-programme management consultancy services for the Jeddah Public Transport Project, at the heart of which is the proposed Jeddah Metro. Under its 18-month contract, Aecom will provide staff to support the preliminary planning and design work for various phases of the metro project.
