Blaze on New Year’s Eve caused extensive damage to the property

Local developer Emaar Properties has engaged contractors to repair the damage done to The Address Downtown Dubai hotel by a fire on New Year’s Eve.

The local Dutco Group has been appointed to carry out the restoration work. The work is expected to be carried out by the local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty and its mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) division BK Gulf.

The contractors are already working on site. The full extent of the work required on the 63-storey tower has not yet been fully assessed.

The blaze started in the evening on 31 December. The building was evacuated and there were no fatalities. The blaze was extinguished on 1 January. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.

Dutco Balfour Beatty is already working for Emaar on the extension of Dubai Mall next to The Address-branded hotel.
