Contract involves providing heat recovery generators for Al-Shabab power plant conversion project
Egypts East Delta Electricity Production Company (EDEPC) has invited companies to submit bids for the contract to provide heat recovery steam generators as part of the project to convert the Al-Shabab power plant to a combined-cycle facility.
The contract will involve the provision and installation of the heat recovery steam generators at the Al-Shabab plant, which is located 33km west of Ismailia city and 10km south of El-Kassassin city in the Ismailia governorate.
Contractors have until 27 October to submit bids for the contract.
The Al-Shabab conversion scheme is receiving funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The project is part of Egypts efforts to expand and upgrade its power networks to cope with rapidly rising demand. The Egyptian capital Cairo suffered from substantial power outages during the peak summer period, which resulted in disruption to key services such as the metro network.
Egypts network suffers from prolonged power shortages during peak summer periods, with a supply shortfall of about 3,000MW in mid-2013.
