Roadside bomb kills 11 as regional violence increases

A roadside bomb has killed 11 soldiers travelling in an armoured vehicle in the Sinai peninsular in Egypt.

The attack on 2 September is the latest in a string of violent incidents in the region.

In August, the Egyptian jihadi group Ansar Beit al-Mqadis released a video showing their members beheading four men they said had given information to Israeli troops, helping Israel to attack the group.

The video resembles those released by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis), which has seized control of a third of Iraq and recently published videos showing the beheadings of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff.
