Emaar seeks contractors for Dubai Creek Harbour tower

Major projects at the masterplanned development are moving towards construction

Local developer Emaar Properties has invited contractors to express interest in the contract to build a tower at its Dubai Creek Harbour development.

The project is known as Creekside 18A and is the latest part of the masterplanned development to move towards construction.

MEED reported in June that Emaar has approached contractors to discuss construction work on the world’s largest shopping mall at the development. Contractors are also understood to have been in discussions with Emaar about the infrastructure for the site.

Dubai Creek Harbour will also be home to a new $1bn tower that will be at least 100 metres taller than the 828-metre Burj Khalifa. Work on the foundations package will start over the summer and the substructure will take about a year to complete.

In January, MEED reported that Emaar had awarded the local Al-Basti & Muktha (ABM) a contract to build the Dubai Creek Residences a Dubai Creek Harbour.

The Dubai Creek Harbour at the Lagoons is Emaar’s largest scheme in the emirate. The developer says it is three times larger than its Downtown District. The UK’s Faithful + Gould is the programme manager for the development.

The project was launched by Emaar and another local developer, Dubai Holding, in October 2014. The two companies signed a joint venture agreement to develop the site in 2013.
