Emirates firm bids low for Hassyan power plant work

PMDC prices contract at $5m

PMDC, a UAE firm, is the low bidder for an engineering consultancy services contract for Dubai Electricity & Water Authority’s planned Hassyan 1 power and desalination plant. The contract also covers site management at Hassyan.

The contractor bid AED18.9m ($5m) for the work. The UK’s Mott MacDonald was the second-lowest bidder with a price of AED29.5m, but the company failed to submit a tender bond.

Belgium’s Tractebel Engineering offered two prices for the contract - AED69.8m and AED82.5m. Australia’s WorleyParsons bid AED89.4m while Germany’s ILF Consulting Engineers bid AED101m.

The US’ Parsons Brinckerhoff submitted two prices of AED121m and AED153m. Germany’s Fichtner offered AED136m and Lahmeyer International, also German, was the highest bidder, offering AED161m.
