The UAE's Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has signed a five-year agreement to supply rolling slab to Spanish aluminum processing firm Aludium.
Rolling slabs are high-quality sheet ingots used in rolling mills for the manufacturing of aluminium plate, sheet and foil products. Rolling slab products are used in industries such as building and construction, lithographic printing and packaging, and aerospace applications.
The agreement is not the first between the two companies, with EGA having supplied Aludium with metal since 2017.
EGA’s aluminium is primarily used in the construction, automotive, aerospace and electronics industries, with its Al-Taweelah site capable of producing 400,000 tonnes of rolling slab per year.
EGA is the largest company jointly owned by Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is equally owned by Mubadala Investment Company of Abu Dhabi and the Investment Corporation of Dubai.
Aludium owns three former Alcoa rolling mills in Spain and France, in addition to an aluminium research and development centre in Spain.
