Emirates is expected to make further aircraft orders at the UK’s Farnborough Airshow, which starts on 19 July
Dubai-based Emirates Airline will operate a one-off Airbus A380 flight to Delhi on 15 July to celebrate the opening of a new terminal in the Indian capital.
Construction of the new Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is now complete.
Emirates, however, says it is not planning on starting a regular A380 service to Delhi.
The carrier will start flights to Beijing from 1 August and to Manchester in the UK from 1 September.
In June, the airline made an $11.5bn order for 32 Airbus A380 planes during the Berlin Airshow (MEED 8:6:10).
This latest order is in addition to the 48 A380 aircraft Emirates already has on order. The airline is scheduled to take delivery of all of the A380 aircraft by 2013.
The airline is expected to announce further aircraft orders for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft at the UK’s Farnborough International Airshow in July and is currently in discussions with both manufacturers.
