
Etisalat says it has now increased its shareholding to 82 per cent from 45 per cent.
Canartel is Sudan’s second fixed line operator and competes with Sudan Telecommunications Company, in which Etisalat also has a 4 per cent stake.
Etisalat operates elsewhere in Africa through its Egyptian subsidiary Etisalat Misr and in West Africa through Atlantique Telecom.
