Tenders are part of a multibillion-dollar field development project

Saudi Aramco is currently planning to tender four packages in September this year as part of its multibillion-dollar project to develop the Marjan field, according to industry sources.

The scope of one of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts is expected to consist of nine jackets for oil platforms. Jackets are the steel frame that supports the deck and the topsides in a fixed offshore platform.

A second package is expected to cover eight jackets for gas platforms. The scope of the third package is expected to cover four tie-in platforms (TPs).

The fourth package due to be tendered is a gas oil separation plant (Gosp), which is expected to be worth between $4bn and $5bn.

“Currently Saudi Aramco is planning to tender all of these Marjan packages in September,” said one industry source.

“Whether or not they will all be tendered that month remains to be seen, but right now we are expecting them all to be tendered around this time.”

“Aramco really wants to see this project making good progress and using a lot of resources to make sure this happens.”

The Marjan field was discovered in 1967. At that time, it was estimated the field contained 2.31 billion barrels of crude.
