EXCLUSIVE: Aramco tenders two offshore projects

07 March 2018
Packages include 19 oil and gas platform jackets

Saudi Aramco has tendered two offshore packages as part of its long-term agreement (LTA) programme, according to industry sources.

One tender document entitled Bid Invite 32 invites contractors to bid for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for 10 oil and gas jackets located across the Marjan, Safaniya and Abu Safah fields.

Bid Invite 33 invites contractors to bid for an EPC contract for nine oil platforms in the Zuluf field.

Saudi Aramco released the tender documents on 5 March. The bid deadlines have not been revealed.

The LTA programme focuses on installing facilities at offshore oil fields in the Gulf. Only LTA-approved contractors will be able to bid for these packages.

LTA-approved contractors are:

  • Saipem (Italy)
  • Larsen & Toubro Hydrocarbon Engineering (India) / Subsea 7 (from the UK, which acquired the Saudi Arabia unit of Singapore’s EMAS Chiyoda)
  • Dynamic Industries (Saudi Arabia)
  • McDermott International (US)
  • National Petroleum Construction Company (UAE)

Those released on 5 March are the latest in a series of offshore oil and gas packages that are expected to be tendered in 2018.

In February, MEED revealed that Aramco is expected to tender a contract to upgrade two offshore platforms in May.

Several packages tendered this year will be part of the larger Safaniya field development project, which is expected to be worth about $15bn.

Earlier this month, the CEO of Malaysia-based Eversendai Offshore said the company would deliver 10 offshore jackets for Aramco before the end of the year.

The jackets are being built at Eversendai’s fabrication yard in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah and will be delivered to Saipem in phases.
