Field is estimated to have the capacity to produce about 500,000 barrels a-day

The total value of all the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for Saudi Aramco’s planned Marjan field development project is expected to have a total value of almost $15bn, according to an official close to the project.

A string of onshore and offshore packages worth hundreds of millions of dollars have already been announced by Saudi Arabia’s national oil company, many of which are due to be tendered at some point over 2018.

The field is estimated to have the capacity to produce about 500,000 b/d of crude based on current installed production facilities.

The Marjan offshore field is located in the Gulf, approximately 85km northeast of Aramco’s Tanajib oil complex.

The project consists of new offshore facilities such as platforms and additional pipelines to link to a new gas facility in Tanajib on the Gulf coast, and from Tanajib to the expanded natural gas liquid (NGL) facility in Khursaniyah

Some of the packages expected to be tendered this year include a contract to upgrade two offshore platforms in May. The package is part of a broader project to develop the Marjan, Zuluf and Safaniyah oil fields.

An offshore package for 19 platform jackets is also due to be tendered in May.

Aramco has received expressions of interest (EoI) for a planned cogeneration independent steam and power project (ISPP) that is part of the Marjan oilfield development.

Four major packages are due to be tendered in September this year.

One package is for the construction of nine jackets for oil platforms, with the second package covering eight jackets for gas platforms.

The third package is expected to cover four tie-in platforms (TPs), and the fourth package will include the construction of an estimated $4-5bn gas oil separation plant (GOSP).
