The local Alec has been awarded an estimated AED275m ($75m) contract for construction work on the Deira Waterfront Development in Dubai.
The works involve the construction of a four-floor, 131-room hotel building and a four-floor office building sitting on top of a three floor common podium. The scheme will be built above the Palm Deira Metro station, which will remain in full operation throughout construction.
The consultant is the local AE7, the project manager is the UK’s Faithful & Gould, and the cost consultant is the local NEA. The client is Deira Waterfront Development, which is an affiliate of the Investment Corporation of Dubai.
Alec is working for another ICD affiliate on the One Zabeel development. That estimated $950m contract involves the construction of two high-rise towers connected by a sky bridge in the World Trade Centre area.
Last year, ICD affiliate Binaa acquired a majority and controlling stake in Alec.
ICD also controls South Korean contractor Ssangyong Engineering & Construction. In late 2016, a joint venture of Ssangyong and Abu Dhabi’s National Projects & Construction (NPC) won an estimated AED600m contract for work on the Deira Waterfront Development.
The contract involves building mid-rise mixed-use buildings that include office, residential and office space.
