Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry has awarded local firm Bin Dayel Contracting with contracts worth an estimated SR1.2bn ($320m) for the construction of government building clusters across Najran, Al-Baha, Riyadh and Mecca
Each of the four clusters comprises nine to 10 buildings that cater to various government administrative services, a source familiar with the project tells MEED.
Each cluster is estimated to cost SR300m.
Bin Dayel is one of several companies that were shortlisted in 2017 to bid for the development and upgrade of 12 airports in Saudi Arabia.
MEED understands the design for some of the planned schemes is undergoing some revisions.
Last week, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman led the cornerstone laying ceremony for two airports in the kingdom’s northern Al-Jouf region.
According to Gaca, Al-Jouf airport will have the capacity to handle one million passengers annually while Qurayyat airport will be able to accommodate half a million passengers a year.
