EXCLUSIVE: Firms prepare bids for Saudi Arabia naval package

Saudi naval package covers dredging and reclamation works as well as construction of quay wall and buildings

Contractors are preparing to bid for the marine infrastructure and buildings contract for the proposed King Fahd Naval Academy in Mecca’s Al-Qadima village, before the deadline of 28 November.

The initial tender closing date was 15 October.

The project has an estimated budget of $1bn and will be developed over 4.3 million square metres of land.

The contract covers dredging and reclamation works, the construction of a quay wall, roads, sewage and irrigation networks. It also covers the construction of several buildings.

Saudi Arabia’s Defence and Aviation Ministry (Moda) is the project client.

Marine contractors such as Saudi Archirodon, local firm Huta Marine and China Harbour Engineering Company (Chec), in addition to local contractors such as Nesma & Partners, Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting, Haif Company and Al-Kifah are expected to bid for the contract.
