Commercial bids for the main contract of the project have been submitted

Contractors that submitted bids for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build Sharjah’s first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) import terminal are yet to receive an update from the project developer.

Technical and commercial bids were submitted in August.

“[Bidders] are waiting to hear from the client," a source tells MEED. "They haven’t heard anything about the project yet.”

A joint venture of state-owned Sharjah National Oil Company (SNOC) and German energy firm Uniper is developing the project.

According to regional projects tracker MEED Projects, the joint venture is scheduled to award the main EPC contract in mid-October, with the project set to be commissioned in late 2021.

The companies understood to have bid for the project are:

  • National Petroleum Construction Company (UAE)
  • Sapura Energy (Malaysia)
  • STFA Group (Turkey)
  • Archirodon (Greece)
  • Royal Boskalis Westminster (The Netherlands)
