Saudi Aramco is planning to develop a new housing public-private partnership (PPP) programme for workers as part of its East-West Corridor development.
According to sources close to the programme, advisory firms have been invited to submit proposals by the end of January to assist with the planned PPP housing scheme. It is understood the programme will initially involve the development of 1,700 houses as part of the initiative.
Aramco has previously moved ahead with plans to develop a PPP housing development at its Fadhili gas development, where it is moving ahead with a major gas plant and power and steam project.
The drive to implement PPP across various sectors has stepped up significantly since the launch of the National Transformation Plan (NTP) in 2016, with the Housing Ministry also pursuing a number of plans to oversee the development of PPP housing programmes.
