Contract part of ongoing expansion of Khalid Port
UAEs Sharjah Ports Authority (SPA) has extended the deadline for the submission of bids for the contract to retro-fit and expand Port Khalid, one of the three ports located in the emirate, to 27 July.
The original submission date for proposals was 13 July.
Contractors that are expected to bid for the contract include:
- Bam International (Netherlands)
- Dutco Balfour Beatty (local/UK)
- China Harbour Engineering Company (China)

The contract is part of the ports ongoing expansion programme.

The scope of the contract awarded to Besix is understood to include dredging of the port basin and the construction of a cargo loading facility, a quay wall, marine rock revetment on the seaward perimeter of the reclamation area, and other related facilities.
The contract is to be executed within 18 months.
