

The contract involves the construction of 114 residential buildings
Saudi developer Al-Raidah Investment Company has appointed Turkish contractor Mapa Construction Company for the second phase of its $1.2bn mixed-use projects in Jeddah, according to a Mapa spokesperson.
Mapa will work on the second phase of the Obhur al-Janoubia project, which is estimated to be valued at approximately $650m.
The scope of work for the second phase involves the construction of 114 residential buildings, landscaping works and all associated facilities.
Once completed the Obhur al-Janoubia project will be made into 1.2 million square metres of residential areas as well as a service and retail zone of about 1 million square metres. The residential aspect of the project will be split across 10 neighbourhoods made up of five villas compounds and five areas comprising apartment buildings.
The project will also include a hotel as well as a shopping mall.
The first phase of the scheme is also being built out by Mapa, which says it is constructing 76 buildings made up of 2,556 apartment units. Work on the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
