Dubai Petroleum is the client that awarded Netherlands-based Royal Boskalis Westminster a subsea services contract.
Boskalis announced on 8 January that it was awarded a $40m contract, to carry out a variety of subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services for a period of three years. It did not reveal who the client was or what the location of the project works is.
“The contract guarantees long-term utilisation of their vessels. So their vessels will stay in this region for a long period,” says a source close to the contract.
In its statement, Boskalis said it "will deploy the diving support vessel BOKA Constructor with ROV [remotely operated underwater vehicle] for this contract, fully crewed with air diving/ROV teams and options for saturation diving."
“They [Boskalis] will also be targeting the relevant Saudi Aramco offshore jobs, to be tendered to the LTA contractors, with their considerable portfolio of subsea vessels and offer attractive pricing terms,” the source said.
The Euronext Amsterdam-listed company in November last year announced securing a position within Saudi Aramco’s pool of long-term agreement (LTA) offshore contractors, in a consortium with the UAE/UK-based Lamprell.
Boskalis has a fleet of over 900 vessels and floating equipment, it says on its website.
