Hotel firm will manage new hotel in Jordanian capital Amman

The US-based Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Group says it will open a new hotel in the Jordanian capital of Amman in 2014.

The Fairmont Amman will be located next to the Fifth Circle in Amman, adjacent to the embassy district.

The 300-room hotel will also contain restaurants, an 800-square-metre ballroom, spa and leisure facilities. The hotel has been designed by US-based architecture firm WATG. The developer for the project is the local Isam Khatib & Partners.

The Fairmont group will open its second hotel in Dubai in 2012. The 372-room Fairmont Palm Jumeirah is scheduled to open in the third quarter of next year. Fairmont representatives were keen to stress the importance of the UAE to its global strategy at a press event in Dubai on 14 December.

“The UAE did very well in 2011 and our hotels recorded a year-on-year growth of about 11 per cent,” said Raki Phillips, area director of sales and marketing Middle East.

“The Arab spring really benefitted the UAE, it has become a safe haven,” added Phillips.

The hotel operator will also open hotels in Jaipur in India, Baku in Azerbaijan and in Kiev, Ukraine in 2012.
