Firms bid for $150m Riyadh road contract

05 June 2008
Bids have been submitted for a new road construction contract in Riyadh.

The contract, which is valued at SR560m ($150m), will cover the construction of a section of highway that will form part of the outer ringroad to the north of the capital. The contract will also include associated service roads and interchanges.

The extent of road is still being negotiated but is expected to be more than 15 kilometres in length, and possibly up to 30 kilometres.

The project duration is 36 months. The Ministry of Transport is the client.

The ministry is set to award a further infrastructure contract in the coming weeks, with the local Shibh al-Jazira Contracting Company tipped to secure the $100m contract for a 15-kilometre stretch of the Jeddah ringroad (MEED 3:6:08).
