
The bidders included two international contractors, China's Sinopec and Lebanon's Contracting & Trading Group.
They were joined by seven local firms: Saaco, HK al-Sadiq Contracting Company, Al-Badr Contracting Company, Petro-Arabia, Arabian Bemco Contracting Company, Al-Suwaidi Trading & Development, and MR al-Khathlan.
The state energy giant had previously extended the bid deadline from 13-19 July (MEED 9:7:09).
The work includes the installation of four pipelines linking the gas-treating and sulphur recovery units. Construction will begin on 11 August and end in late 2010 (MEED 19:6:09).
Shedgum is one of five Saudi plants that can process 1.6 billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas.
