The Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), an Abu Dhabi developer, chose the joint venture to build the resort in late April.
The joint venture will build a hotel with 380 rooms, seven residential buildings with 259 apartments and 33 villas.
The resort wil open in 2011 (MEED 1:5:09).
South Africa's Mirage Mille is the consultant.
When originally tendered in November 2008, the project included 75 villas with a club house and sports facilities on an adjacent plot.
However, the client has scrapped the 75 villas from the deal to reduce costs.
Prior to November, TDIC had selected the local Arabtec Construction to build the resort. The developer then decided to tender the scheme to lower costs.
