
Qatargas plans to expand living quarters at North Field facility
Several companies are vying to carry out the main contract on a project to build new offshore living quarters for Qatargas, according to sources familiar with the scheme.
State-owned Qatargas, the worlds largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer, is planning to build additional accommodation at the North Field Bravo facility at Qatars North Field offshore gas field.
The project will extend existing facilities to provide living quarters for an additional 90 people.
Companies submitting engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bids for the project include:
- Larsen & Toubro (India)
- McDermott (US)
- Qatar Engineering & Construction Company (Qatar) / Lamprell (UAE)
- Rosetti Marino (Italy)
- Sapura (Malaysia)
Qatargas produces gas from the offshore North Field the worlds largest known gas field and converts it to liquefied natural gas (LNG) onshore for exports to European and Asian markets.
The company has seven gas LNG trains with a total capacity of 7.8 million tonnes a year.
