The US’ Foster Wheeler has won a contract to carry out the pre-front-end engineering and design of the planned revamp and expansion of the Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant.
Under the terms of the contract, Foster Wheeler will carry out basic design work to increase the plant’s gas throughput to 530 million cubic feet a day (cf/d) by 2020.
It will also develop the configuration for the expanded plant, which will include high-yield LPG recovery units.
Located in Manama, Banagas was commissioned in 1980, with a capacity of 110 million cf/d. It operates two gas processing trains with a total feed gas throughput of 280 million cf/d.
