Deal will deepen operations in the Middle East
Frances Egis has acquired a 51 per cent stake of Bahrain-based project management firm Projacs.
Founded in 1984, Projacs offers a wide and integrated range of project management services across the region mainly relating to building projects. The firm also has its own training institute, which accounts for 11 per cent of its annual business. The company employs 700 people and had a turnover of $70m in 2014.
Projacss recent project wins include providing project management services on two shopping mall developments in Doha. The first project is Vendome Mall, which will be built on a 187,000-square-metre site in the Lusail development to the north of Qatar.

Egis has 500 employees working in the region working on infrastructure, buildings, water, energy and real estate projects across the Middle East. In 2014, Egis generated 7 per cent of its turnover was from the region. Globally Egis has 12,000 employees and generated a turnover of 854m ($936m) in 2014.
Projects awarded to Egis in the region since 2012 include:
- Project management and construction supervision of three lines of the future Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia
- Project management for the Doha Metro in Qatar
- Design studies and construction supervision of 130 kilometres of expressways in Doha
- The design of the urban development of the new cities of Taif and Badr in Saudi Arabia
- Technical management of a data centre in Riyadh
- Project management of the King Faisal Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
- The renovation of aviation infrastructure at Riyadh King Khaled International Airport
- Assistance to the Saudi civil aviation authority for the commissioning of new infrastructure at the King Abulaziz International airport in Jeddah
- Design studies for the future Medina Metro in Saudi Arabia
- Project management of all the elevated sections of the Doha Metro
- The design review and works supervision of the new project to extend the Doha West wastewater treatment and recycling plant
- Design studies and works supervision of the Um al-Houl Economic Zone (QEZ-3) in Doha
- Engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for rehabilitation of Al-Karaana lagoon in Qatar
- Construction supervision of the main sewer in the sanitation system in the city of Doha as part of the Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (Idris) programme
