Local producer is expanding with a re-melt facility

  • Fives wins engineering, procurement and construction for re-melt facility
  • Fives will carry out work over a period of 21 months

French engineering group Fives has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Bahraini aluminium producer Gulf Aluminium Rolling Company (Garmco) to build a re-melt facility.

The project will enable Garmco to develop its metal recycling capability and lower the cost of metal casting, adding a capacity of 120,000 tonnes a year (t/y) of aluminium slabs.

Fives will carry out the EPC over a period of 21 months starting from September.

Garmco is a Bahrain-based exporter of flat rolled aluminium products, with annual revenues of more than $450m.
