Gasco awards $150m gas pipeline contract

17 December 2007
Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco) has awarded a 23-month AED560m ($152.6m) contract to build a new natural gas liquid (NGL) pipeline to Dodsal, an Abu Dhabi-based contractor.

Under the terms of the lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction contract, Dodsal will install more than 220 kilometres of polyethylene-coated pipe from the Asab, Bu Hasa and Bab onshore fields to its treatment plants at Ruwais on the coast.

The existing 25-year-old network will be demolished once the new pipelines are commissioned.

Dodsal was frontrunner following the submission of bids in the summer, beating off competition from a number of other local and international contractors (MEED 19:10:07).

The consultant on the scheme is Veco from the US.

Gasco operates major gas plants in Abu Dhabi, including a 3,500 million cubic feet a day facility at Habshan.
