Companies asked to submit bids for contract in eastern Iraq by 10 August

A consortium led by Russia’s Gazprom has floated a tender for the development of power grids at the Badra oil field contract area in Iraq.

Companies have been asked to submit bids for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts on two packages by 10 August.

The packages cover: the development of existing power grids in the Badra and Zurbatiya areas; and development of existing power grids in the Jassan area.

The Russian group leads the leads the Gazprom Neft Badra consortium with a 30 per cent stake in the development of the Badra field, which is located along Iraq’s eastern border with Iran. Its partners are South Korea’s Kogas (22 per cent), Malaysia-based Petronas (15 per cent), Turkey’s TPAO (7.5 per cent) and the Iraqi Midlands Oil Company.

The consortium recently started producing oil at the Badra field four years after signing a development contract with the Baghdad government.

Production is expected to ramp up to 15,000 barrels a day (b/d), after three months of testing the crude processing system. The first line, which was connected to Iraq’s oil pipeline network in March, has been built with a capacity of 60,000 b/d and will be expanded to reach a peak of 170,000 b/d, in line with Gazprom’s plans.
