
Oman Aluminium Rolling Company awards $32m for downstream unit in Oman
UAE-based Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won a $32m contract to build an aluminium coil coating plant in Sohar, Oman.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal was awarded by the projects owner Oman Aluminium Rolling Company (OARC).
The plant has a planned capacity of 25,000 tonnes a year (t/y) and will be a downstream unit to OARCs aluminium rolling mill.
The project includes the coil coating process building, the facility will encompass a waste water treatment plant, natural gas reducing station, scrap yard, solid waste yard, hazardous waste area, pond, administration building, canteen, change room, warehouse, guard house and other site amenities.
Construction is expected to start in May with completed targeted for mid-2015.
OARC expects the rolling mill, which started operations earlier this year, to reach its full 160,000 t/y capacity by 2019.
