US-based project manager will work on the Silhouette Tower
Qatar Islamic Bank has awarded US-based Hill International a contract to provide project and construction management services on the $400m Qatar Silhouette Tower - Intercontinental Hotel and Conference Centre in Doha.
The project, which is already under construction, involves building a 59-story tower with 365 hotel rooms and 180 serviced apartments. The client wants to complete the project in mid 2011.
Qatar Islamic Bank is financing the project for the owner Mohamed bin Ajaj al-Kubaisi.
In mid-December Hill won the contract to provide project management services on the estimated $110m Al-Waab Mall project, which is also in Doha in Doha.
Located in the Fereej Al Amir District at the center of downtown Doha, Al-Waab Mall has been designed as a three-storey retail development with parking facilities for 1,300 cars (MEED 20:12:09).
Hill has a joint venture with another US-based firm, Louis Berger, to work with the local Qatar Project Management Company (QPM), which manages projects on behalf of Barwa Real Estate and Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company.
As part of that agreement Hill is working on three projects worth $2.9bn, including the $1.3bn Barwa City, the $1.3bn Barwa Financial District, and the $300m Barwa Building Material Factories.
