Huta Group wins King Abdullah Economic City contract

18 June 2008
Saudi Arabia's Huta Group has been awarded a SR83m ($22m) contract for construction work in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The contract covers the construction of two bridges in the Bay Le Sun residential community.

The award follows a SR250m contract to the Huta Group for the development of man-made canals with supporting walls covering a total area of 1.9 million cubic metres within Bay Le Sun.

Completion of the work is expected in late 2008.

Bay Le Sun is located within the residential community of KAEC, which comprises five other zones: the sea port, industrial zone, central business district (including financial district), educational zone and resort district.

Investors have committed more than SR130bn ($35bn) to KAEC, according to Amr al-Dabbagh, governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (Sagia), who was speaking during the visit of King Abdullah to the city on 11 June (MEED 12:6:08).
