Description: The JSDP was a challenging construction project to build a 21-kilometre reinforced concrete channel, 13 reinforced concrete bridges, 1km of box culvert and associated road works in the heart of Jeddah city. Major quantities included 2.6 million cubic metres of excavation, 225,000 cubic metres of backfilling, the placement of 175,000 cubic metres of reinforced concrete, and the relocation of 25km of electrical wiring and telecommunication cables. All this was done within a contract duration of 10 months. A partnering approach between client, consultant and contractor was adopted for the construction project.
