Biography: Iain Rawlinson has been chief commercial officer of APM Terminals in Bahrain since July 2006. The Netherlands-based operator was awarded the concession to operate the new Khalifa bin Salman Port in 2005. Rawlinson is responsible for commercial, sales and business development activities at the port.
He has worked in the Middle East since 1994, initially representing LEP International in Bahrain before working with Sea Land in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In 1999, following the acquisition of Sea Land by Denmark’s Maersk Line, Rawlinson opened the agency for Maersk Sealand in Bahrain, followed by the establishment of an agency for Maersk Logistics in 2001.
In 2004, Rawlinson was appointed as the key client manager for Maersk Line in Saudi Arabia. He is a qualified barrister and holds a degree from Durham University in the UK.
