Indian firm bids low for Oman control systems work

21 August 2008

India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is low bidder at OR5.3m ($14.8m) for the contract to upgrade the control system at pressure reduction stations for Oman Gas Company (OGC).

L&T’s offer is marginally lower than the next best price of OR6.9m submitted by the local Special Technical Services. Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trading and Contractors Technical Services were the other companies to bid the work.

The engineering, procurement and construction contract is the second of the three main packages on the Nimr-Salalah gas pipeline project.

India's Kalpataru Power Transmission recently submitted the low bid for the contract to build the pipeline (MEED 23:7:08).

Bids are due by 25 August for the associated contract to build compressor stations at the Nimr field.

The gas, sourced from the Nimr field, will be used as feedstock for the Salalah methanol plant and the Salalah independent power project.
