India-based Infinite Mining & Energy plans to build an oil refinery in the UAE emirate of Sharjah after signing a land lease agreement with the Hamriya Free Zone Authority (HFZA).

The planned refinery will have an output capacity of 10,000 barrels a day (b/d), amounting to an annual potential of 3.6 million b/d.

Under the agreement with HFZA, Infinite will lease a plot of land measuring 200,000 square feet in the Hamriya free zone to build the refining complex.

Infinite began operations in the Hamriya free zone in 2018 and owns an oil storage facility with more than 20 loading slots.

The proposed refinery project doubles the company’s investment in the Hamriya free zone and will create more than 100 job opportunities upon commissioning, as well as expanding the company's storage capacity.
