MedcoEnergi to carry out six-year exploration programme in south of Oman

Indonesia’s MedcoEnergi has been awarded an exploration and production sharing agreement on Oman’s onshore Block 56 oil concession in Al-Wusta governorate in the south of the sultanate.

MedcoEnergi is the majority partner in a joint venture with local group Intaj that plans to drilled three exploratory wells as part of a six-year exploration programme.

The 5,808-square-kilometre area has an estimated 370 million barrels of oil in place with another six potential prospects, according to MedcoEnergi.
