The award, made by the Great Manmade River Water Utilisation Authority (GMRWUA), centres on the detailed design, supply and construction of five 86,000-cubic-metre reinforced concrete storage tanks at a location about 40 kilometres south of Tripoli.

CKG beat off competition from three other contractors to take the 28-month contract. They were Athens-based Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas), Turkey’s Gamaand Bosnia’s Hidrogradnja.

In addition to the tanks, CKG will supply and install five turn-out head works, pipes and fittings, as well as carry out external works, including roads, drainage and fencing.
