The US Aecom provided project management and construction supervision consultancy services for the plant. The owner, Taweelah Aluminium Extrusion Company (Talex), is a joint venture of Senaat, the industrial arm of the government of Abu Dhabi, and Gulf Extrusions of Dubais Al-Ghurair Group.
The facility is the largest aluminium extrusion plant in the Gulf region. The project is innovative as it enables aluminium to be extruded from scrap metal and pressed, anodised, sprayed and painted, packaged and delivered with a one-stop-shop approach.
The capacity of the plant is between 30,000 and 40,000 tonnes a year of billet in five different diameters. It will enable Talex to operate one of the most efficient and versatile remelt plants worldwide.
