New plant to be built in Khouzestan
Iran’s Khouzestan Steel Company has issued a tender for a new 550,000 tonnes a year (t/y) steel rolling mill plant in the southwest of the country.
The plant will be built on an engineering and procurement basis. Details will be available until 21 January, although a closing date for offers has not been set.
The deal, which includes related auxiliaries and services, is open to local and international joint ventures.
Khouzestan Steel Company is a subsidiary of state-owned National Iranian Steel Company. It currently produces approximately 3.2 million t/y of iron and steel products at its facility, 10 kilometres from the south western city of Ahwaz.
According to the Brussels-based World Steel Association, Iran produces some 11.4 million t/y through the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation, the holding company which oversees the mining and metals sector in Iran.
