Iraq requests emergency electricity sales

The electricity would be used to plug the consumption gap caused by disruptions to the generating and transmission facilities

Iran has received a request from Iraq for emergency electricity sales. The mayor of Mehran, a city in Ilam Province, was quoted as saying in late August that the Ilam grid would be connected to that of Wasset and Meysan provinces in Iraq.

A spokesman for state power company Tavanirsays negotiations are at an early stage. The electricity would be used to plug the consumption gap caused by continued disruptions to the Iraqi generating and transmission facilities.
