Report claims agreement has been reached to resume Kirkuk exports through Kurdish pipeline
Iraq is set to increase oil exports by 5 per cent after an agreement to restart shipments from three oil fields in Kirkuk, according to a report.
Exports from the Baba Gorgor, Jambour and Khabbaz fields will increase by about 150,000 barrels a day (b/d), Bloomberg reported, citing a member of the oil and energy committee of the Kirkuk provincial council.
Iraq exports oil from the three fields to through a pipeline controlled by the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) into Turkey.
Exports from the north of Iraq have been limited this year by an ongoing dispute between Baghdad and the KRG over the distribution of revenues.
Iraq appointed Jabar Ali al-Luaibi as oil minister earlier on 16 August. In his first comments, he said Baghdad could find a solution to the oil conflict with the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
