Oman’s distribution companies are integrating smart metering into their networks
Italy’s Cesi has been awarded a contract for the second phase of Oman’s automated meter reading programme.
Having already worked on the first phase of the smart meter rollout, the Italian firm has been appointed by the sultanate’s Nama Group, the government owned holding company for generation and distribution of power in the sultanate.
The smart metering programme will be adopted by a number of distribution companies in the sultanate, including the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), Mazoon Electricity Company (MZEC), Majan Electricity Company (MJEC) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (Raeco).
